Eastern Rajasthan saw 135 percent above-average rainfall in mid-July 2025, killing at least seven people in 48 hours and leaving six missing in the Chambal.

Outdoor workers and construction crews in Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner and Jaipur should shift physical labour to before 8am through April to June, when afternoon highs regularly cross 45°C and the Rajasthan High Court itself has directed a noon-to-3pm outdoor work pause during red alerts. Farmers in the groundwater-stressed western districts, where extraction already runs at roughly 149 percent of recharge, should treat the confirmed monsoon onset, not the calendar date, as the real signal to commit seed and irrigation, since a late start leaves little margin in a region with almost no surface water to fall back on. Tourists and desert-safari operators around Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Pushkar should plan travel for October through March and check the heat index before any outdoor booking made outside that window. Transport operators and residents in Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Pali should treat August and July rainfall alerts seriously despite the region's dry reputation, given the flash floods and building collapses of 2024 and 2025. Anyone travelling to Mount Abu in December or January should check the overnight low separately from the daytime forecast, since temperatures there have dropped to 1.4°C even as the desert plains stay mild.

Diwali and the Pushkar fair both fall in this window, drawing the bulk of the state's 23 crore annual domestic visitors into a five-month stretch, so hotel and transport bookings tighten fastest between October and February. Anyone planning a desert trip in April or May should check both the heat index and, increasingly, the rainfall outlook, since flash floods in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur in August 2024 and July 2025 showed that even peak dry season now carries a real, if occasional, flood risk.
