India vs West Indies 4th T20I Is Free on DD Sports via Free Dish

The India vs West Indies 4th T20I starts at 7 PM IST on Wednesday, 14 October, in Hyderabad, and it is live on the Star Sports network on TV and the JioHotstar app online. There is also a free way to watch: DD Sports carries India’s home matches at no cost, but only for viewers on DD Free Dish. On a cable connection or a paid DTH service such as Tata Play or Airtel, DD Sports will not show the match. India lead the five-match series 2-1, so a win in Hyderabad seals it.
Where to watch the last two T20Is
| Match | Date | Venue | Start (IST) | TV | Streaming | Free option |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4th T20I | Wed, 14 October | Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad | 7:00 PM | Star Sports network | JioHotstar app and website | DD Sports, on DD Free Dish only |
| 5th T20I | Sat, 17 October | M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru | 7:00 PM | Star Sports network | JioHotstar app and website | DD Sports, on DD Free Dish only |
On JioHotstar, the match sits behind the platform’s own plan terms, so check the app before the toss rather than assuming it is free. Ball-by-ball scores for both matches will be on IndiaRealTime’s live cricket page, and the full fixture list is on cricket matches.
Why DD Sports is free only on Free Dish
This comes from a 2007 law, the Sports Broadcasting Signals (Mandatory Sharing with Prasar Bharati) Act. It requires any private broadcaster holding rights to a sporting event of national importance, which includes India’s international cricket, to share the live feed with Prasar Bharati so the public broadcaster can air it free.
The catch is where Prasar Bharati may air it. Star, which held cricket rights at the time, challenged Doordarshan putting the shared feed on channels that cable operators and private DTH platforms carry. The Delhi High Court ruled in February 2015 that the shared feed can go out only on Prasar Bharati’s own terrestrial network and its own DTH service, DD Free Dish. The Supreme Court upheld that in August 2017. So the free match exists, but only for the households that get DD Sports through Free Dish or a terrestrial antenna.
How the series reached 2-1
| Match | Venue | Result | Player of the match |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st T20I, 6 October | Lucknow | India 172/2 (14.4 overs) beat West Indies 171 by 8 wickets | Shreyas Iyer, 102 not out off 43 balls |
| 2nd T20I, 9 October | Ranchi | West Indies 252/4 (18.3 overs) beat India 249/5 by 6 wickets | Shai Hope |
| 3rd T20I, 11 October | Indore | India 223 beat West Indies 209/7 by 14 runs | Arshdeep Singh, 3 wickets |
Each match has gone a different way. Captain Shreyas Iyer’s maiden T20I century finished the opener with 32 balls to spare. In Ranchi, Shai Hope’s hundred and Sherfane Rutherford’s 84 off 37 took West Indies to their highest successful T20I chase, the second highest by any team in T20I history. Indore was the tight one: India were bowled out for 223, and Arshdeep Singh’s two wickets in the 18th over turned the chase India’s way.
Abhishek Sharma’s 69 off 30 in Indore also took him past 2,000 T20I runs in 1,024 balls, the fewest any batter has needed. His record-breaking pace is not new: he set India’s fastest T20I century record last month. The T20Is follow a three-match ODI series that India won 2-1, with Shubman Gill’s 223 in Guwahati powering India’s highest successful ODI chase.
What is at stake in Hyderabad and Bengaluru
A win in Hyderabad gives India the series 3-1 with a match to spare. A West Indies win levels it at 2-2 and turns the 17 October game in Bengaluru into a decider. Both are evening starts in October, when late rain is still possible in the south; the Hyderabad city page and the Bengaluru city page carry the local weather for match day.
